(Photo: Shen Yun Performing Arts)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan – President of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association expressed his praise and admiration, affirming that Shen Yun has taken exactly the path Vietnamese artists have long hoped for:

For composer Duc Trinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, the beauty and value of Shen Yun are beyond dispute:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huyen Nga, former Head of the Faculty of Composition – Conducting – Musicology, Vietnam National Academy of Music, was moved by and full of admiration for all of Shen Yun’s activities:

Shen Yun: Bringing new hope to our country’s artists and transforming declining social morality

(Photo: Shen Yun Performing Arts)
In reality, traditional art forms such as classical dance and symphonic music, once respected and honored as humanity’s greatest achievements, have gone through a sharp decline in recent decades.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan, President of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, lamented the weakened state of classical art in Vietnam:
“It’s very hard now. I myself have taught composition at the conservatory for 25 years, teaching students how to write a symphony, but then it keeps becoming hybrid. Some write modernized music, some write music without tonality, some write music imitating natural sounds like cars and the wind…”
Indeed, it is not that people today no longer create art. The past 20th century saw countless new works, along with talented companies and artists, but very few of these works have the lasting appeal of those of earlier masters. They came and went with each trend and fashion, then disappeared, and often became a means of venting despair and the dark side of human life.
And that is why the rise of Shen Yun Performing Arts, with its traditional moral values and beautiful orientation toward goodness that awakens kindness in people, made composer Do Hong Quan so happy and filled him with hope:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huyen Nga, former Head of the Faculty of Composition – Conducting – Musicology, Vietnam National Academy of Music, even seemed to find in Shen Yun a path of hope for our country’s art and for her colleagues in the arts:

Pianist Ngoc Ha, M.A., former lecturer at the Military Arts School, shared her hope that human morality will be transformed by Shen Yun, and that it should be made accessible to the whole of society and to all ages:

For writer and journalist Nguyen Dang An, author of the famous short story “The Woman Who Played with Sand”, Shen Yun truly brings hope to a modern society that is declining morally and humanely in many respects:

For the former Director of the Institute of Han-Nom Studies of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Viet, Shen Yun’s art brings hope to an entire culture by restoring the divinely inspired culture left by the ancients:

Well-known businesswoman Dang Thanh Hang, CEO of the Beauty Medi beauty chain, sees Shen Yun as opening hope for a form of cultural and moral education through art:

Indeed, as we entered the 21st century, a new artistic phenomenon bringing hope appeared – Shen Yun Performing Arts. Founded in 2006 in New York by Chinese-American artists, Shen Yun very quickly rose to prominence on the world’s stages and awakened audiences with splendid and profound performances of an eternal beauty rooted in classical artistic values and traditional Eastern culture.
The upcoming 2020 season: Shen Yun’s record numbers as a global artistic phenomenon

Shen Yun’s mission is clearly stated: to revive the 5,000-year civilization of all humanity. The scale of its performances has grown rapidly, reaching hundreds of cities and millions of people around the world in a short time. By this 2020 season, after only 13 short years, Shen Yun has set impressive records that have amazed the world of art: 7 dance companies with 7 conductors leading 7 symphony orchestras with full instrumentation, 7 pairs of MCs with 7 full technical crews, one for each company, more than 80 artists per company, touring more than 150 cities in 19 countries with more than 750 shows every year. Each year Shen Yun creates more than 2,000 new costumes with unique, never-repeated designs, and more than 6,000 hotel rooms are booked each year for each tour…
Below are the factors the guests identified as they shared their “decoding” of Shen Yun’s secrets of success:
The first secret of success: “Superb” artists and “number one” musicians

(Photo: Shen Yun Performing Arts)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan analyzed Shen Yun’s secrets of success from the perspective of his 25 years of experience in the profession:

Indeed, through its performances, Shen Yun has raised East-West symphonic music and traditional Chinese dance to the forefront of the performing arts. The precision of every movement, the dancers’ physical strength and almost perfect synchronization, and the talent of the orchestra’s musicians and conductors made a strong impression on all the guests at the tea party. Shen Yun truly gave the guests a sense of certainty about the revival of classical art, a precious revival that the Vietnamese art community has long hoped for.
Pianist Ngoc Ha, M.A., exclaimed:

The second secret of success: Go beyond your own limits and you will surely reach your goal

(Photo: Shen Yun Performing Arts)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huyen Nga, former Head of the Faculty of Composition – Conducting – Musicology, Vietnam National Academy of Music, “decoded” Shen Yun’s second secret of success as the ability to “go beyond human limits”:

Ms. Tran Thi Loan, Business & Integration Magazine, shared her admiration for the artists’ painstaking, rigorous training:

(Photo: Shen Yun Performing Arts)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan “decoded” the third secret of Shen Yun’s special success: coordination:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huyen Nga, former Head of the Faculty of Composition – Conducting – Musicology, Vietnam National Academy of Music, shared the same view as composer Do Hong Quan:

The fourth secret of success: Restoring traditional cultural values

(Photo: Shen Yun Performing Arts)
Shen Yun’s rapid and comprehensive growth in less than 15 years is proof of people’s longing for traditional beauty, values and divine inspiration from the stage. Shen Yun’s artists continue their pursuit of pure art, carrying on the tradition of the Western classical masters while bringing vitality and inspiration from 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan affirmed that the path of restoring tradition is one of the secrets of Shen Yun’s resounding success:
“Something that really ‘haunted’ me when I heard the first melodies is that they are built on a foundation of traditional Chinese music, which can also be said to be its 5,000-year roots. Their deep use of the pentatonic sound makes you recognize at once that this is the music of a particular region with a long history. The orchestra has chosen a very precise direction, drawing from the roots of Eastern ethnic music with the pentatonic scale as its foundation, which is why wherever it goes in the world, people recognize it at once…”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huyen Nga also shared how she sees Shen Yun restoring traditional values:

Major General, Meritorious Teacher and composer Duc Trinh shared that traditional Chinese culture is a treasure that needs to be restored:

The fifth secret of success: A wondrous art tied to traditional spiritual and moral values

(Photo: Shen Yun Performing Arts)
Shen Yun Performing Arts performs dances and stories from Chinese history to East-West symphonic music, but the language of dance, the language of music and the meaning Shen Yun conveys have universal value for all humanity.
Shen Yun’s performances bring not only dance and music at their highest level but also what is purest, expressing the spiritual values of kindness, sincerity, goodness and forbearance that run throughout human history:
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Musician Do Hong Quan described Shen Yun as an art that is wondrous and divine:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Viet saw Shen Yun as a bridge between humankind and the universe, between the human spirit and the divine:
“Before Shen Yun’s performance, I must say I was utterly astonished and found it utterly fascinating. Shen Yun is a very ingenious and refined combination of East and West, of past and present, restoring traditional culture. Like a bridge between humankind and the universe, between the human spirit and the divine.”

Pianist Ngoc Ha, M.A., saw Shen Yun’s high moral values and realized that Shen Yun is a place that can save people when “words no longer have any effect”.
Writer and journalist Nguyen Dang An is certain that Shen Yun will bring people’s souls together and help them turn toward goodness.
Ms. Tran Thi Loan, Business & Integration Magazine, felt that it is what comes from within the artists’ hearts that lets the audience feel such pure and powerful energy:

Indeed, “everyone should see it at least once in their life”. In the future, we will surely look back on this time as a special period in the history of human art: one that saw the revival of a higher understanding of the purpose of art – to uplift humanity and bring a better future to human life.
