Shen Yun's 2018 World Tour Opens Great Opportunities for Travel Companies

“A completely different art program”, “A performance of great historical and cultural value”… These were the words of praise from representatives of many well-known travel companies in Hanoi after learning about Shen Yun Performing Arts.

Today, when traveling from one country to another or from one continent to another is no longer difficult, travel has become an essential form of leisure in everyone’s life. In recent years in particular, tours combined with performances of traditional cultural arts have become a new trend, making trips more meaningful and rewarding. Hoping to serve as a bridge for international cultural exchange and to help restore beautiful traditional cultural values, with the permission of the Shen Yun office in New York, Viet My Traditional Culture Company worked with Blue Ocean Travel to hold an event introducing Shen Yun Performing Arts to representatives of more than 50 international travel agencies at the Metropole Hotel in Hanoi on the afternoon of March 1.

One of the guests at the event, Ms. La Hang, a designer of traditional ao dai, recalled her feelings when she saw Shen Yun in Taiwan. For her, Shen Yun was something very special and impressive. That is why this past February she invited her colleagues to join her family on a trip to Taiwan to experience Shen Yun. She shared: “I told my two sons, who are studying in the US, that they may not come home in the summer, but they should come home in February and go with their mother’s company to Taiwan to see Shen Yun. My staff also went to see Shen Yun, and when they came back, they thanked me so much for giving them the chance to see this show.”

Most recently, Ms. Nguyen Thu Van, former Director of Vaccine and Biological Production Company No. 1 under the Ministry of Health, a professor and Doctor of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, also went to see Shen Yun 2018 in Taiwan at the end of February. The deep emotion she felt when seeing this performance with her own eyes is still as fresh as ever. She also expressed her wish to “bring my children and grandchildren and relatives, and to introduce it to close friends so they can see this performance too.”

Through the stories and genuine impressions of audience members, as well as video clips introducing Shen Yun’s mission and art, the guests got a glimpse of what makes this program unique. With the borderless language of music and dance, Shen Yun conveys traditional culture in a way that people of any nation can fully enjoy. There are folk and ethnic dances that take audiences on a journey to the majestic Tibetan plateau, the long riverbanks of Dai ethnic villages, or the vast Mongolian steppe… There are also beloved tales from ancient to modern times such as Journey to the West, Nezha and Wu Song; and noble figures whose moral example is still very relevant to modern life, such as the heroine Mulan, the undefeated general Han Xin, the loyal and valiant general Yue Fei, and more.

Many travel company representatives at the event were deeply moved afterwards, and they believe that combining a Shen Yun performance with a tour will certainly bring travelers the most rewarding experience. Mr. Phung Gia Tuan, Director of Discover America Travel, said: “What impressed me most was the bearing in Shen Yun’s dancing – very special and completely different from the shows I have seen before. This March I also plan to go to the US, and I have promised myself that I will definitely see Shen Yun in California. I want to experience it first, and then share it with my family, friends and customers.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Director of Viet Dream Travel, was “very impressed by the way the artists perform, especially their bearing – they leap so high, yet their faces stay calm; the music is also beautiful.” Sharing Ms. Hoa’s impression, Mr. Ho Xuan Phuc, Director of HaNo Tour, said: “The movements are always complex, yet the artists on stage never look tired or tense – they are completely natural.”

Ms. Do Nguyen Huyen, Director of Tour Seoul, who has many years of experience organizing tours to South Korea, shared: “There’s something hard to put into words – after seeing just a few excerpts, I already want to see what two hours of the real performance will be like. I will sign my family up for a trip to South Korea combined with seeing this performance.”

In fact, Ms. Quach Hong Nhung, Director of Blue Ocean Travel, who has worked in international travel for more than 10 years, has already been including Shen Yun performances in her company’s tours to Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and Australia. Having seen Shen Yun in Australia and New Zealand, Ms. Nhung felt it was an amazing performance and wanted to share it with her customers. She said: “I feel so fortunate to have seen such superb shows. And I decided that this performance must be part of my company’s tours. I want to share this happiness with my company’s beloved customers.”

Agreeing with Ms. Nhung, the Assistant Director of F5 Travel also shared: “F5 Travel is one of the companies organizing tours to Taiwan, especially in northern Vietnam today. In fact, seeing Shen Yun has been part of our company’s tours since 2015, so it has been 3 years now. Our customers’ feedback after the show has been very good. So besides Taiwan, we also want to include this program in many new tours, such as to Japan or South Korea.”

Taiwan is close to Vietnam, easy to travel to and often a top choice for Vietnamese travelers. Many travelers consider a trip to this country, which still preserves much of its traditional culture, together with seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts, an essential spiritual treat every year. Ms. La Hang herself, a loyal F5 customer, shared: “I’ll go again next year, and the year after, and the year after that – as long as I have the strength, I’ll keep going!”

Many travel company representatives also hope to soon add Shen Yun Performing Arts to their tour schedules. Mr. Phung Gia Tuan, Director of Discover America Travel, confided: “I hadn’t paid attention to this performance before, even though my company has organized many cultural tours combined with shows for Vietnamese travelers in the United States, such as Paris By Night or talk shows in Las Vegas. But after today I will have to change my thinking and review the way we organize tours for Vietnamese travelers to the United States, adding more art performances, especially this Shen Yun performance.”

At the end of the event, the organizers gave away two prizes – a pair of tickets to Shen Yun Performing Arts in California, USA, and a pair of tickets for a city in Europe – to two lucky guests: Ms. Bui Thanh Huyen, Deputy Director of Thuan An – Ascend Travel, and Ms. Jessica Nguyen, Director of Southeast Asia Travel & Service. Remarkably, Ms. Huyen already planned to go to the US at the end of March, and she will certainly not miss this pinnacle of art. Ms. Huyen shared: “I feel very happy and lucky to win this ticket, and also surprised because I already planned to go to the US on March 25. I will definitely use this ticket as soon as possible!”

After the event, many guests also wrote heartfelt messages in the guestbook. Mr. Phung Quang Loc wrote: “Learning about Shen Yun Performing Arts for the first time, I greatly admire the scale and the performing spirit of the artists. I will make time so that my family and I can go and see it live.”

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Dung said: “After all, I think this is a wonderful program. I will definitely go and see it.” And Ms. Tran Quynh Anh, Director of Vietparadise Travel, wrote: “I’m excited and can’t wait to see Shen Yun as soon as possible! May Shen Yun bring many spiritual values to people everywhere in the world!”

Every year, Shen Yun gives more than 500 performances in nearly 150 cities across five continents. In the US, Europe, Australia and many parts of Asia, especially Japan and Taiwan, Shen Yun has been welcomed by millions of people with enthusiastic applause in the world’s leading theaters.
